| Quadra is a full service daycare offering many advantages over other care centres in Vancouver. Housed in a standalone character building in a quiet setting, our facility offers plenty of natural daylight and fresh air, inside and out. We
have our own playground in the backyard, fully fenced-in and featuring plenty of big shade trees for those hot summer
days. Quadra offers both full- and part-time placement, long hours, a caring, well structured environment for fun and
learning, Kindergarten walkover service to Queen Mary Elementary School, and many other benefits that are appreciated by children and parents alike. |

| Quadra's goals and philosophy We are committed to nurturing and guiding young children. We provide an environment that fosters trust, security and comfort. When children are in an environment that encourages caring and cooperative relationships, they learn sensitivity in their interactions with others. Schedules, routines and transitions serve as a framework from which children gain trust, security and order. While these can be flexible to some degree, they must provide children with clear guidelines about what is expected. |

| The needs of the children must be met through a balance of active and quiet periods;
individual and group activities; and child initiated and adult initiated times. We strive to
provide a balance of activities that helps the children to progress in their social, emotional,
physical and cognitive development. During these formative years, children must learn how to get along in a group, to share, to solve problems in their relationships with their peers, to develop a positive self-image and to trust adults. Within the play-based program provided at Quadra, children can develop these skills in their creative play activities. Young children learn through their play, which is a highly creative activity. Play is the child's work. It is their way of trying out roles and experimenting with life. |

| Licensing Quadra Daycare is inspected and licensed by the Community Care Facilities Licensing Office. Quadra Daycare is a non-profit organization registered under the B.C. Society Act. Every family unit becomes a voting member of the Society. We are also registered as a charitable organization. The Society elects a Board of Directors annually at the Annual General Meeting in June. The daycare is administered on a daily basis by the Director. |

| Admissions We accept children from the age of 30 months until entry into grade 1. We are licensed to care for 25 children at any given time. We offer both full- and part-time placement. Our programme is licensed by the Ministry of Health under the Community Care Facility Act: Child Care Licensing Regulation. The Director maintains a waiting list for placement at the daycare. In the allocation of places we make an effort to keep families together, and to maximize the comfort of the children by giving preference to:
Parent Participation Parent participation is an important part of the ongoing operation of the daycare. It also helps us to control fees. All parents must be active members involved in the operation of the centre. Each family is assigned a 'parent job' that helps us to maintain the daycare. These are typically small housekeeping tasks, phoning duties, or perhaps occassional fundraising efforts. Additionally, twice a year (spring and fall) Quadra holds a work party in which a complete cleaning of the daycare is performed and any maintenance is performed. Each family is expected to participate in the work parties. The Board of Directors for the daycare consists of parents elected from the current membership, and there are two standing committees (Human Resources and Safety & Maintenance) that are staffed by parents. ![]() A panoramic view of Quadra's fully fenced-in backyard: a balance of sun and shade. |
